Porsche introduced all 996 C2s with conventional cable throttles while all C4s were fitted with exhaust gas throttles. This was the case for model year 98 in Europe and 99 in the United States.

The IPD "Y" Plenum is a direct factory replacement for the Original Equipment "T" air distributor. The IPD intake chamber delivers an impressive 28 horsepower gain at mid-range and an additional 12 horsepower at the top of the range.

Installation is relatively easy and straightforward for DIYers with a sense of mechanics, but IPD strongly recommends having a qualified technician install the IPD intake chamber.

To find out if your Porsche has a cable or gas throttle, just check if the throttle body has a black electronic module (E-Gas) or a conventional spring-loaded throttle control /cable.
