EVENTURI Carbon Air Intake for BMW M240i G42 B58

The BMW G42 B58 Eventuri intake was developed to provide the turbo with a less restrictive flow path while maintaining low intake temperatures. Heat and volume are the primary considerations when designing an intake for turbocharged engines.

In the M240i, the intake system is located next to the exhaust manifold, which quickly heats up the engine compartment. High temperatures are detrimental to engine performance because the turbo should be boosted with heated, less dense air, so the only way to ensure that TSI is minimized is to have a fully sealed intake. However, this results in a restriction with only one stock air supply from which to draw air.

During development, Eventuri noticed an additional opening in the wheel well area and adding a secondary supply to the airbox. In addition, the sealed airbox also features a heat shield with gold highlights to minimize radiative heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To maximize volume, Eventuri made the airbox as large as possible with a recess for potential spacers.

The original convoluted intake tube is replaced with a smooth carbon tube that is also larger in internal volume with a starting internal diameter of 111 mm (4.4 ″) tapering smoothly to match the turbo inlet. The tube provides a smooth path from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally, custom high-flow dry filter that is ISO tested for filtration performance and has a larger filtration area than the original filter.
