Y Pipe Hi-Flow IPD for Porsche 991 Turbo/S MKII

 

The "Y" Pipe IPD was built for the most demanding Porsche Turbo owners. This is not a simple cast iron reproduction of the stock "Y" duct, but a complete software re-design to provide significantly greater airflow for both stock/or upgraded Turbos

The stock "Y" Pipe becomes restrictive when the car is optimized/tuned with significant power gains. The inlets are larger and the bypass area is optimized allowing for power gains. Flow is more efficient with an additional 126 cfm (Cubic Feet per Minute) over the original "Y" Pipe.

 

IPD has tested numerous internal surfacing techniques inside the plenum, including polishing, extrusion lapping, epoxy coating, and shot blasting to name a few.

 

The "Y" Pipe IPD can be ordered in custom colors in powder coated and ceramic or polished coatings to enhance the aesthetics of your Turbo engine.

The Y-Pipe IPD of the 991.2 Turbo offers the same performance as the previous generation Turbo. Porsche made very few changes to the intake system from the 991 Turbo to the 991.2 Turbo. Ballistic acceleration and a top speed of over 200 mph put this Turbo in a very elite class of supercars. But of course, IPD's Y-Pipe (and Plenum) sets the performance bar even higher for Porsche enthusiasts looking for fighter jet performance in their German Turbo Missiles.

 

IPD invested countless hours of R&D with a variety of unique design features and multiple prototype tests before arriving at an optimal design that significantly improves engine performance for 991 Turbos, whether stock or highly modified. The innovative Y-Pipe concept is not only bigger, but also uses "non-round" channels, an optimized fusion manifold area and the proven dimpled inner liner. This superior design results in greater air volume, improved laminar flow and increased air velocity. These upgrades deliver over 40 more horsepower, over 50 foot-pounds of torque, better boost response, and more linear power and torque curves.

 

As we all know, bigger is not always better when it comes to forced induction applications. The IPD Y-Pipe is considerably larger than the stock pipe, but not so much that it causes a pressure drop in the intake tract, resulting in turbo lag and reduced performance. This optimized "non-round" design with a dimpled inner surface cannot be achieved with conventional round tube construction.

 

The 991 Turbo Y-Pipe is a direct engine upgrade that requires no modification, but should be performed by an experienced technician familiar with the 991 platform. Y-Pipes come complete with all necessary hardware to complete the 'facility.
